Pfeiffer Beach, Monterey County

Pfeiffer Beach may be one of the most photographed spots in Big Sur, but it’s also one of the most hard to find. Sycamore Canyon Road, which leads down to the beach, is unsigned.
Find the road and it’s an easy trip down to this beautiful beach, which has stunning lavender sand. At the right time of year, the dramatic rock arches frame breathtaking Big Sur sunsets. Kids love playing in the creek that empties out into the ocean. The tide is strong, so swimming is not advised.
Sycamore Canyon Road is a quarter mile south of Big Sur Station and 1.1 miles north of the Ventana entrance. Turn west on Sycamore Canyon and follow for 2.2 miles to the parking area. This road is very narrow, so drive slowly!
